Hey Everyone!
I thought that after
yesterday’s promotion on the Foods Alive Crackers, I would take this opportunity to explain what “At-Cost” Specials truly are.
Sometimes I get a fella writing in upset with me stating, “These are truly not “At-Cost’” Specials”. I run a business and I know that you wouldn’t be able to run a business like this.
This is how it works, and the “At-Cost” specials term just caught on after that 15 years ago.
For example, yesterday we just offered Foods Alive Crackers at 30-37%
off.
What I do is negotiate with our suppliers, and ask them if they could give me a discount off of the normal wholesale pricing. When this negotiation happens, I then sell you the product at their normal wholesale pricing. I’m still making money, because the normal wholesale price is just temporarily less after my negotiations.
Therefore, yesterday’s specials are truly “At-Cost”. You won’t find the Foods Alive Crackers at this price anywhere, because we are offering it to you at
their wholesale price.
Anyhow, the term caught on, and it’s just so simple to use. In a Newsletter title, all I have to do is write At Cost and everyone knows what I am talking about. It’s so short and perfect for the subject line. People are used to this term and absolutely love it.
Now as for other specials that are not truly “At Cost” you ask? What I do is buy large quantities of a product every time I’m going to do a promotion. This generally gets me a bigger discount at times.
It may not be “At-Cost”, but it is a super good darn deal, lol!
One example is, I bought the top tier amount of the Ocean's Alive Marine Phytoplankton to where I was able to get a substantial discount off of the regular wholesale pricing. Therefore, I was able to offer you the coupon bringing the cost down to wholesale levels.
Anyhow, I hope that clears things up for anyone with any concerns.
