Now that’s a steal!
As you will read below, our Goji Berry Powder is the top food source in the world in zeaxanthin,
and our Kale Juice Powder is the top food source in the world in lutein.
Furthermore, in the study here, they demonstrated that goji berries are more effective than lutein/zeaxanthin supplements in enhancing eye health, particularly for preventing age-related macular degeneration
(AMD).
In this 90-day trial, healthy adults aged 45–65 who consumed 28 g of goji berries five times weekly showed significant increases in Macular Pigment Optical Density (MPOD—a key marker of eye health that reflects the concentration of protective pigments in the retina), while those taking a supplement with 6 mg lutein and 4 mg zeaxanthin showed no improvement. Goji berries also boosted skin carotenoid levels,
indicating stronger antioxidant protection. This superior bioavailability and higher zeaxanthin dose outperformed the supplement making goji berries a powerful tool for delaying or preventing AMD compared to supplements.
This just shows that truly raw living superfoods are way more effective than processed lutein and zeaxanthin supplements. Taking our Goji Berry Powder with our Kale Juice Powder may be
one of the best possible things that you can do for your vision.
Let's now go into great detail about how both superfoods are the perfect food sources for our vision.
Firstly, our Goji Berry Powder has more Zeaxanthin than any other food in existence. It’s not just by a little either.
The second top food in Zeaxanthin is Orange Bell Peppers. Our Goji Berry Powder has
50 times more zeaxanthin than Orange Bell Peppers. The next top food in Zeaxanthin is corn, which our Goji Berry Powder has over 250 times more Zeaxanthin!
Why is Zeaxanthin so important?
Zeaxanthin, along with lutein, is a carotenoid that accumulates in high concentrations in the macula, forming a yellow macular pigment filter. This macular pigment filter is densest in the fovea,
the region of the retina responsible for our sharpest central vision and home to the highest concentration of cone photoreceptors.
These cones are essential for detecting fine detail, color, and clarity in daylight. This pigment, densest in the fovea, is composed mainly of ~70–80% zeaxanthin and ~20–30% lutein, and has a yellow color that selectively absorbs high-energy blue light. This acts like a
natural pair of sunglasses inside the eye, reducing light scatter and glare while preventing overstimulation of the sensitive foveal cones. By doing so, it helps maintain visual clarity and contrast.
Most importantly, it also protects these delicate cones from photo-toxic damage, which can occur when excessive blue light and oxidative stress overwhelm the retina. Damage to foveal cones can lead to blurring, distortion, or permanent loss of central
vision, as seen in conditions like age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
If we don't get enough zeaxanthin, then the macular pigment becomes thinner, especially in the fovea, reducing its ability to filter blue light and protect cone cells. Over time, this increases the risk of glare, visual fatigue, and long-term damage to central vision, including a higher risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
What’s
crazy, is that 1 teaspoon of our Goji Berry Powder will give you all of the Zeaxanthin that you need in a day. It tastes so good that I would do at least a heaping 1 teaspoon to cover your grounds completely. If you already have AMD, then you may even want to load up on many teaspoons per day.
Our Goji Berry Powder is over 2x's more concentrated than dried goji berries. Therefore, to get
a teaspoon of goji berry powder, you would need to eat about 34 goji berries. It’s just so much easier and less invasive to take the powder in my opinion, and it just tastes so good.
There are a grip load of studies that show Goji Berries boost zeaxanthin levels up to 3-fold in 90 days, protecting against age-related macular degeneration by enhancing retinal health and improving visual acuity in early AMD
patients.
As seen in the studies [1, 2, 3, 4, 5], goji berries have been repeatedly shown to enhance macular pigment optical density (MPOD), raise plasma zeaxanthin levels by up to threefold, and improve
visual acuity in early AMD patients. Their high concentration of bioavailable zeaxanthin—up to 90% in esterified form—offers superior absorption and retinal protection compared to isolated supplements. In fact, at the study here, it shows that zeaxanthin in goji berries is predominantly present as zeaxanthin dipalmitate,
a highly bioavailable form.
These studies also show goji berries help maintain macular pigmentation, reduce the buildup of retinal waste deposits (known as drusen—an early sign of AMD), boost antioxidant defenses by over 50%, and filter harmful blue light. These findings consistently support goji berries as a potent, food-based intervention for improving macular health and delaying age-related degeneration.
As you can see, our Goji Berry Powder has a
ludicrous amount of Zeaxanthin. However, it doesn't have that much Lutein.
This is where our Kale Juice Powder comes into play.
Kale has more lutein compared to any other food in existence. At a 45:1 concentration, this makes this raw living Kale Juice Powder the best natural lutein supplement in the galaxy for your eyes.
The next top food
in Lutein after Kale is Spinach, and kale contains double the amount of Lutein compared to spinach. Since our Kale Juice powder is produced through the only company on the planet who has the technology to make truly raw juice powders, and has a 45:1 concentration, the amount of Lutein is exponential in our Kale Juice Powder compared to any other food in existence.
Well, our Spinach juice powder
is produced by the same company, and therefore has half the amount of raw living Lutein as our Kale Juice Powder. However, the next top lutein food after that would be whole leaf Swiss chard. Our truly raw kale juice powder has 84 times more lutein than whole leaf Swiss chard.
If I had to choose what's more important between Zeaxanthin and Lutein, zeaxanthin takes the
crown due to its higher concentration in the fovea, the retina’s central region critical for sharp vision, and its superior ability to filter blue light and protect against oxidative stress. However, lutein is still essential and a superstar for eye health. Lutein dominates the peripheral macula, safeguarding a wider retinal area to keep your full visual field clear. They both work synergistically to form the
macular pigment, acting like a natural shield to filter harmful blue light, reduce glare, and protect retinal cells from oxidative stress to prevent age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
At the study here, Kale was cited as a primary dietary source of lutein, with regular consumption linked to reduced risk of
cataracts and AMD. The review noted that kale’s lutein (10–20 mg per 100g serving) aligns with doses shown to enhance visual acuity and protect against oxidative damage in the retina.
At the study here, Kale’s lutein was shown to be highly bioaccessible contributing to retinal protection and
potential to lower AMD risk due to its concentrated carotenoids, especially when consumed regularly. At the study here, Kale’s lutein content was highlighted as a key factor in increasing macular pigment optical density (MPOD), which protects the retina from blue light and reduces risk of age-related macular degeneration
(AMD). The study noted kale’s potential to improve visual performance (e.g., contrast sensitivity) based on its carotenoid profile.
As seen at the studies [1], [2], and [3], they suggest that you need 6–20 mg of lutein per day for eye health benefits, with 10 mg/day commonly cited for reducing age-related macular degeneration (AMD) risk and improving visual performance (e.g., contrast sensitivity, glare recovery). For example, as used in the AREDS2 gold-standard NIH study [3] , they used 10 mg lutein + 2 mg zeaxanthin daily, showing benefits for AMD progression.
For general eye health and AMD, we want to be taking at least 10mg of Lutein, and 2mg of Zeaxanthin per day as shown in the gold-standard NIH study.
What’s mind-blowing is that 1 teaspoon of our 45:1
Concentration raw living kale juice powder contains a whopping 26 mg of lutein, lol. Therefore, 1 teaspoon goes way beyond all the lutein that you need in a day.
Now imagine, taking this with 1 teaspoon of our Goji Berry Powder, which gives you over 3mg of Zeaxanthin! You would have the top two foods in existence with the highest Lutein and Zeaxanthin content available, greatly
surpassing your daily needs for both.
Remember, Zeaxanthin and Lutein supplements don’t work nearly as well compared to raw living Superfoods like this. As seen at that study here, they demonstrated that goji berries are way more effective than lutein/zeaxanthin supplements. People who consumed
goji berries showed significant increases in (MPOD), while those taking a supplement with 6 mg lutein and 4 mg zeaxanthin showed no improvement.
